To undertake warehouse-based service delivery activities and deliveries to meet our customers’ requirements.
BACKGROUND
JOHN W. LAYCOCK Ltd is a long-established, family-run steel service provider based in Keighley, West Yorkshire with a strong reputation for First Class Service in Steel. The Company is expanding its service delivery capacity and requires the capability to drive 19 tonne, 7.5 tonne & 3.5-tonne fleet vehicles.
REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking to provide an exciting opportunity to a person who has/is:-
- Customer service focussed individual;
- Strong teamwork ethos;
- Honest and reliable;
- Arithmetics – a working understanding of metric and imperial measurement, addition, subtraction, division and multiplication;
- Class 2 licence, fully CPC compliant – Class 2 experience preferred but not essential;
- Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment. Significant amounts of heavy lifting are required and the applicant should be confident that they are fit, strong and healthy enough to undertake the work required;
RESPONSIBILITIES
Activities undertaken by the roleholder are likely to include but are not limited to:-
- Providing first-class customer service
- Lifting and carrying steel
- Putting steel into storage
- Loading wagons
- Unloading wagons
- Overhead gantry crane operation
- Measuring steel
- Completing delivery paperwork
- Operating cutting, drilling and painting equipment
- Delivering steel on a daily basis across Yorkshire & Lancashire with occasional UK-wide delivery possibly including overnight stays.
Induction, Training and Development
The Company Induction and Training Programme ensures that adequate training is given to new starter employees, particularly in the areas of:-
- Delivery driving
- Health & Safety
- Safe lifting
- Crane operation
- Loading/unloading vehicles
- Daily vehicle checks
- Measuring in both metric and imperial
Ongoing development training is core to the Company’s strategy of continued development of the team and its service delivery capability.
Terms and Conditions
This role is offered on a full-time and permanent basis subject to completion of a satisfactory probationary period. Terms to be agreed.
