In partnership with our friends at GM Engineering, we were delighted to lend our skills in a charity project to help our local school boost its safeguarding procedures with extra security.

Following consultancy with Richard Hunt, Headteacher of Glusburn Community Primary School in North Yorkshire, we designed a solution to improve security on various access areas to the school.

The Laycock’s team, GM Engineering and the school collaborated throughout the design, installation and testing phases.

In a letter to us and GM Engineering, Mr Hunt said: “I am writing to thank you both for providing your valuable expertise and craftsmanship in creating a safe, secure yet an easily accessible entrance through our main pedestrian gate.

“The advice and support shown to our school has been gratefully received and welcomed in helping us to find a solution to protect our children further. Safeguarding our children is our main priority in school, and with your partnership we have been able to ensure this continues to happen.

“Thank you for keeping our budget unhinged and swinging the payment of the work to the gate; hugely appreciated!”

Mrs Sandra Chapman, Administrator at Glusburn Community Primary School, added: “On behalf of myself, the staff, governors and children, I just wanted to express our gratitude for the help, support and time you have given in helping to ensure our children stay safe, and providing a latch which was perfect for our needs.

“Please pass on our sincere thanks and appreciation to Gary (GM Engineering) for his time in expertly fitting them.”

Everyone at John W. Laycock and GM Engineering is delighted to be involved in helping the school and local community.
